Moving from another host

  Step by step...

So you want to move over from another host, but you're not sure what the best way is to keep your website and email up and running. We have provided you with a step-by-step guide if you would like to follow it, or, you can have us move your site over for free.

Either way, we would like to offer you a recurring 10% off for switching from your previous hosting provider. Enter in coupon code, switched, into the order form and we will apply the coupon to any virtual hosting, reseller hosting, or VPS package. We will then contact you for a recent invoice from your previous hosting provider.

If you are coming from a web host that does NOT use cPanel, here is our recommended method:

Note: Make sure you have downloaded your mail via an email client if you were using WebMail at your previous hosting provider.

1. Purchase your new hosting package with us.

2. Setup all of your email addresses, email forwarders, transfer your files via FTP, etc.

2a. (Optional) If your host is willing to oblige, have them turn down the TTL (Time to Live) values for your DNS record to a short value, such as 300 (5 minutes). Then wait 24 hours before proceeding to step 3. This will ensure that when you change the nameservers, you will only have about 5 minutes of "seeing" the old server.

3. Disable any active MySQL databases at the old web host.

4. Transfer the MySQL database to your new account here.

5. Change the nameservers for your domain to the ones we provided in your welcome email. If you couldn't do step 2a, then it will take anywhere between 6-48 hours for you to start seeing your website at our servers.

6. Enable the MySQL databases.

7. Check to make sure your website is working correctly and all there, then you are free to cancel your old service.

2. Create a Full Backup file in your cPanel at the previous web host.

3. Transfer this file to your new hosting account with us.

4. Submit a ticket to the "Moving In" department letting us know that you have uploaded the Full Backup. If you have an active database, let us know so we can make other arrangements with you.

5. Once we have restored the backup file on our end, we will let you know and you can proceed with change your nameservers to the ones provided in your welcome email.

6. Check to make sure everything works, then you are free to cancel your old service.

But what are you waiting for? Order your hosting package today and we will handle everything for you!
